Legal Director

We are seeking an executive, highly skilled Legal Director to lead our legal and compliance function in Lower Austria. Serving as a key strategic partner to the executive team, you will mitigate risks, drive high-stakes transactions, and ensure robust governance across a complex multinational matrix structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Legal Advisory & Governance: Act as a trusted legal partner to senior leadership on corporate initiatives, corporate restructuring, and risk frameworks. Oversee and develop the local legal team, aligning internal policies with global corporate requirements.
• Commercial Transactions & M&A: Direct global contract standardization (Sales, Procurement, R&D, Licensing) and lead high-stakes negotiations. Drive legal strategies for M&A, joint ventures, due diligence processes, and post-merger integrations.
• Regulatory & Specialized Compliance: Oversee and strengthen frameworks regarding export control of dual-use goods/high-tech transfer, data privacy (GDPR), and cross-border capital or fund movements within complex European corporate tax structures.
• Employment & Industrial Relations: Manage executive employment frameworks and navigate complex Austrian labor law matters, including local works council dynamics.

Position Requirements

• Education & Qualifications: University degree in law from the DACH region (Austria, Germany, or Switzerland). An **Austrian Bar Qualification (*Rechtsanwaltsprüfung*)** is strongly preferred.
• Professional Experience: 10+ years of post-qualification experience within a reputable international law firm and/or as senior in-house counsel in the advanced manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or high-tech sectors.
• Transactional Mastery: Extensive, proven capability independently executing complex, high-value commercial contracts and cross-border M&A transactions.
• Compliance Expertise: Practical knowledge of Export Control regimes (dual-use), GDPR, corporate tax compliance, and Austrian labor law frameworks.
• Languages: **Native/Professional German** (essential for statutory, regulatory, and local contractual matters) + **Fluent English** (required for corporate reporting). Proficiency in Mandarin is an asset, but not required.
