As the IT of the REWE Group Austria, we work together with our more than 700 employees to develop innovative IT products and services for all our corporate divisions in Austria and abroad, setting the tone for modern trade. Join the Integration Platform Team at REWE International AG. We build custom Kubernetes operators in Go that automate the provisioning, orchestration, and lifecycle management of platform services to make self-service simple and reliable for our product development teams. As a Platform Software Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain these operators and the surrounding platform tooling.
- Software Engineering: Strong proficiency in Go (preferred) or a comparable language such as Rust, Java, or C++. You write clean, testable, well-structured code.
- Kubernetes Expertise: Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including the controller/operator pattern, Custom Resource Definitions, and the reconciliation loop. Hands-on experience building or extending operators.
- Monitoring Fundamentals: Practical experience with Prometheus and Grafana, or comparable observability tooling. You know how to instrument services and set up meaningful alerts and dashboards.
- Apache Kafka: Familiarity with core Kafka concepts (topics, consumer groups, partitioning, replication) and production operations.
- Service Mesh: Experience with Istio or comparable service mesh technologies.
- Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
- CI/CD & GitOps: Familiarity with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines in a Kubernetes-native context.
- Analyze, evaluate, and resolve network incidents and service requests (L1–L2) to ensure stable operations across the REWE Group’s international landscape.
- Consult stakeholders and internal partners through professional communication and structured troubleshooting (Layer 1 → Layer 7)
- Define "AS-IS" network health using enterprise monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Cacti) and implement improvements based on NetFlow and Syslog analysis.
- Align and execute security requirements by creating and adjusting basic firewall rules within Cisco ASA and Firepower Management Center (FMC).
- Write and track documentation for recurring incidents and troubleshooting steps in Jira and Confluence to improve team efficiency.
- Manage operational escalations as the "Operator on Duty" (OOtW), coordinating directly with the Expert Network Engineering Team.
