We are looking for a motivated and practical PCB Design & Prototyping Intern to assist with the development of electronic hardware prototypes, including interface and breakout boards for industrial microcontrollers (MCUs) used in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups. You will work closely with our engineering team on schematic design, PCB layout, prototype assembly, and the testing and validation of electronic circuits.

Your future tasks include:

  • Design electronic schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Create multi-layer PCB designs that adhere to good engineering practices.
  • Support component selection and footprint creation.
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation and design files.
  • Assemble, solder, and debug PCB prototypes.
  • Perform electrical testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Document designs, test procedures, and results.

Your profile:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with PCB design software such as: KiCad, Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
  • Practical experience designing and creating PCBs, either through academic projects, personal projects, internships, or professional work.
  • Understanding of schematic design principles and PCB layout fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB assembly, soldering, and debugging.

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Experience programming industrial microcontrollers or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ for embedded development.
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git).

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for Employees in Non-University Research (Research Collective Agreement Section 19). The monthly gross salary for this position is € 1,461.00.
