Quality Engineer with AI focus

The impact you'll make

As a Quality Engineer at Lam, you'll make an impact in ensuring manufacturing processes and products meet quality standards by designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance within the quality management systems (QMS). You design methods for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the accuracy of production processes and finished products. By analyzing production data and reports, you identify trends and work across functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges. Your expertise will help develop excellence in product design and manufacturing supporting Lam's commitment to delivering high-quality and reliable products.

What you'll do

• Lead complex root cause investigations and identify the underlying process issues behind quality problems.
• Drive effective corrective and preventive actions to ensure sustainable resolution and continuous improvement.
• Apply and promote structured quality methodologies such as 8D problem solving and Lean Six Sigma Belt principles.
• Support and actively contribute to triage meetings, helping to prioritize issues, coordinate actions, and ensure timely follow-up.
• Act as a mentor and coach for team members and cross-functional stakeholders, strengthening problem-solving capabilities across the organization.
• Develop and maintain a high-quality data foundation/database that enables reliable analysis of process performance and quality trends.
• Use data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities and drive process optimization initiatives.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to improve product and process quality.
• Support the development of innovative digital solutions, including the creation of an AI agent for automated quality analysis, to accelerate issue detection, trend analysis, and decision-making.

Who we're looking for

• Technical degree (Bachelor or Master) with experience in quality or degree in quality with technical experience
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Fundamental understanding and experience in quality management systems (QMS)
• Experience in Quality methods like 8D
• Experience or strong interest in digitalization and AI applications in quality, including:
• Using AI/ML methods for root cause analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive quality
• Developing or supporting AI-powered tools or agents for automated quality insights and decision support
• Applying modern data and analytics platforms to scale quality intelligence
• Project management capabilities, leadership skills
• Data analysis capabilities - from data mining to data analysis and conclusions
• Fluent English is a must, German language skills are beneficial
• Quality certifications such as Six Sigma Yellow Belt is a plus

What we're offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in the occupation group F or G depending on educational background. A higher payment is negotiable depending on education, expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
